Dogern to Basel to Freiburg

We were running a bit nu behind schedule, as we always thought we would, and we didn't want to run out of time later on so we decided to catch a train to Freiburg via Basel.
We packed up and rode to the station and tried to buy 24hr regional passes from the ticket machine. It wouldn't take any of our cards or our 100 dollar note so we did some shopping first.
We had been trying on the internet to find some accommodation in Freiburg that was central and reasonably priced, without any success. A helpful German on the train told us we would do better if we went to the tourist info centre when we arrived.
We rode from the station in to the old city in Basel without to much trouble. We didn't wasn't to spend too much time in Basel, so we had a quick look at the Munster ( cathedral), the Kunstmuseum and the Rathaus plaza, before riding back to the station and catching a train to Freiburg.
The advice about the tourist info centre was spot on, as we were very quickly booked into a very reasonably priced private Zimmer only a few km from the centre.
Next Day
We have just arrived back at our room after a pretty full day of sightseeing in and around
Freiburg, including a trip by tram, bus and cable car high up into the black forest ( we didn't stay up there long as it was freezing), a train trip to Titisee, and a good look around the city centre. It has been quite cool, with a max of only 19 deg.
Freiburg is a very nice small city, easy to ride around and with excellent public transport. Our 24hr two person train/bus/tram ticket cost less than 10€.
( Bridie you will like this city.)
