Gailingen to Dogern

After a very nice breakfast at our guesthouse we rode the 1 km to Diesenhofen, crossing the Rhine on a lovely old timber covered bridge.  After a bit of a look around, and a visit to the bike shop to try to get a part for a pannier, we rode on to Schauffhausen and climbed up to the Kastell Munot. Well worth the climb. Then on to the Rheinfall, the biggest waterfall in Europe.

Having done the main tourist spots for the day we then just pedaled on at relaxed pace, stopping in a lovely spot by the river surrounded by forest for a picnic lunch, and a bit later at Kaiserstuhl for a drink and cake.

We decided to ride another 20km or so, and find somewhere to stay on the German side - much better value than the Swiss side.
After riding through a bit of a rain storm we crossed the river on a very busy road to Waldshut.

As we rode along we could see a nuclear power station on the Swiss side of the river.

We tried a few places for a room without success until a helpful girl phoned for us and found a room at Gasthof Hirschen in Dogern, as very nice guesthouse.

About 80 km for the day. Generally very pleasant riding, sunny in the morning with some cloud later on to keep it cool.
