Mader to Fischbach

Beautiful sunny and cool morning. Very nice ride along mostly dedicated cycle paths to Bregenz, about 30km away. Once we joined the Bodensee Radweg we were amazed at the number of cyclists on the route.

We had a bit of a look around Bregenz, a lovely, historic old town centre, the highlight being the theatre in the lake. After a picnic lunch by the lake we caught a ferry to Lindau on the German side. It is a picture perfect German lakeside town. The lake front area near the ferry terminal was packed with people. What's it like in the peak season?

After a bit of a wander through the crowded town centre and a chat with an English tourists we joined the stream of cyclists doing the Bodensee route. We weren't very impressed with the bike route. The lake front is heavily populated and we only had the occasional glimpse of the lake from the path, and with the number of bikes on the path we had to stay focused on riding and overtaking.

We stopped in Friedrichshafen for a drink and a bite to eat. It was getting a bit late so we agreed to had towards Meersburg and look for somewhere to stay. In Fischbach we spotted a Zimmer Frie sign. Quite nice private accommodation for only 50€ including breakfast.
